HI all: Thought I'd update you on the last couple of days here at University Hospital. On Monday, I got tired of being in the wheelchair and decided to become a touch independent--so I put myself back to bed--not a bad first attempt if I must say so myself! Of course, the nurses didn't think that I was cute, but they were somewhat impressed. From there, the Physical therapists decided that I had to show them what I could do, so I spent my therapy time in the room getting into and out of bed. For OT, they gave me a pair of pants--size 40x20 to put on--it's difficult to do with one leg straight!! I managed, but with some difficulty--sometime try it--sit on the bed, legs straight and put on a pair of pants--remember that my flexibility isn't what it used to be. I also spent 2 hours with some physical therapy students who bent us, twisted us and just plain studied us! It was a good experience, but tiring. From there, it has just been plain day to day stuff--getting more independent and learning to deal with non-flexibility. Thank you all for the support you have given my family, Zach and me--it is truly appreciated. And, Thanks to those who have helped on the farm or offered to help--my only thought is that I am really glad we were done with harvest when this happened--sure did make it easier for Dad! Talk to you again soon. Jer

Hi Jer!! Was so glad to see you had updated the blog yourself and to hear all of the great accomplishments you are making!! Miss you and hope to get back to see you again this week. I will be sure to try that pants thing tonight before I go to bed!!! I am sure I won't be able to do it half as good as you!! And I know the nurses DO think your cute....they just don't want you to know that. It would undermine their authority if they admitted to it!! Keep them on their toes!! Love you!!
i glad to hear that they are trying to keep you busy, but i guess they realy dont know i farm boy and the energy. i bet they will be watching you a little more closely

I'm so glad for your progress !! Lots of Prayers are still going on for YOU. God Bless You !!
Wow, imagine that, you being independent, and impatient, I'd have never guessed. Good to hear that you're causing trouble as always, and making progress, talk with you later man,
Adam
So glad to hear that you're doing well. I really hope everything else is going great with you. You are still in my thoughts always.

Jeremy,
The initial shock of hearing about your accident was immediately transformed into the urgent need to pray for you. I set your picture (thanks to this blog site) as the wallpaper on my computer and every time I see your radiant, smiling face I pray for you (upwards of 30 times a day) and know that I will see you like that again soon!
This is the only blog I've ever gotten on, and thanks to it, I've been so encouraged to see the supportiveness of friends and family and just the folks in the area who are united by it.
I'm proud of you with your courage and your strength. Add our faith to that, and keep up the good work. I'll crank up my prayers for increased flexibility.

It is wonderful to see that you are still such an independent, willful, yet humerous young man! Perhaps another something wonderful will happen for you during this time of rehabilition. You never know! Keep up the good work. Hey, maybe you will be home and able to run through Rhea and Jamie's new house before too long!
Love, Kathy
Keep up the GREAT work. So good to hear from you. It helps us all so much to realize what you are really going thru. Can't picture 40 x 20 pants, but the straight leg I can relate to.
