Thursday--knee surgery day
Well, the knee surgery is behind us now! Jer seemed to come though pretty good. Niki talked to the doc after surgery and he said surgery went well, and hopefully there will not be a need for any more. He is going to let Jer rest for the weekend and keep the knee immobile and then start moving it on Monday! Tomorrow he will have another procedure on his back. This one won't involve surgery, but they will inject a dye into his spinal drain to see if there is a leak someplace in the spinal dura (the original patch that they did on the 19th is holding very well, but they think there is a small leak in front of that one). If there is a leak, they will put some glue on the hole, and hope that it holds. His spirits were much better tonight than we have seen in a few days. Of course, he wasn't happy when they wouldn't let him eat--he had been without food since midnight last night. Then they came in and said --yes, eat until midnight tonight--then nothing by mouth until sometime tomorrow AGAIN! He is eager to get back to rehab, but he now realizes that he has to let his body heal some before he pushes it. Again, we would like to thank everyone for the tremendous support you have shown to our family and for all the cards, thoughts and prayers you have sent to not only Jer, but to Ron & I and the girls. Love to you all--Carm

Yea Jer!! Another step accomplished......glad to hear it went well and that you will soon be moving again....I know you can't wait for that....You are such a strong young man and I know that you hear that all the time, but it is SOOO TRUE!!!! You make me proud to be your Aunt....no matter who I talk to, they ALL say what a great person, mentor, hero, bus driver, teacher, etc., that you are. You have touched so many lives and that is why so many people love you and are praying for you every day.....You must have some GREAT parents who taught you to be the person you are today, right!!?? (I guess we have to give them SOME of the credit!!) Keep up the good work and we will keep up the prayers and support for all of you Hoffmans!! We love you all.....XXXOOOXXXOOOXXXOOOXXXOOOXXX
Jeremy,
You were (overly) concerned the other day about how to pay everyone back. My suggestion is that you just get better soon and back on your feet.
You've been through enough, and bothering yourself with such worry is counter-productive to a rapid, full recovery! Any and all of us who have helped or prayed for you and your family will be amply repaid if you would just, in the words of Kevin Spacey, "pay it forward"!
Besides, we're not done yet!
Praying for you,
Mike & Pat Garrett
I'm still Praying for Jer and all of the Hoffman Family. God Bless !!!
I hope that this well be the last big set back for Jeremy. I hope that Zach, and all of the Hoffman family know they are in my thoughts just as much as Jeremy is. I hope that he will give himself the rest he needs so he can rehab soon. Hope to see you soon Jer.
