I just got home from spending the day with Jer. Today was one of those down days, he did a lot of sleeping, which is good for him at this point. He was running a temp all day, so they did a number of tests to see what might be causing it--the docs say it's not unusual for someone having spinal surgery to run a temp. He's also picked up a cough and they were worried that it might be pneumonia, so they took chest xrays (they came out clear). When I was leaving, the neurosurgeon was going into his room, so I waited and talked with him. He is pleased with the "patch" that they put on the dura, and told us that the fluid they removed from Jer's back was not infected, so that is good. Now we just have to see where the fluid is coming from. He is back to having a spinal drain in for the next 5-8 days after which they will do a CAT scan with contrast and inject dye into the drain to see if the dura is leaking any place. As for his knee--who knows! Niki and I waited all day for the ortho guys to come in and tell us what was up, and they never arrived. Again as we were leaving, the nurse came in and said that Ortho called and said "it's broke"--now what that means is left up to our interpretation I guess. Jer said that when they come in on night rounds, he will ask questions. He's pretty good at that!! The nurse who was the bearer of all the news tonight also said that they would be moving him again tonight to 7B--Jer's response--"can't I go to 7A--I didn't like 7B" The nurse mumbled something like "me either". So, we aren't sure if he will be moved in the morning or not, most likely he will be, and probably to 7B, but lets hope not.
As I've said numerous times in the past 2 weeks, you people are wonderful--your concern and prayers have helped us get through these first 2 1/2 weeks. Without your prayers, I'm not sure God would hear just us. Jer asked the other day how he would repay everyone for everything they have done for him--I told him to get better and we would worry about repayment later as I'm sure everyone just wants to see him walking again! Thanks all--love you Carm

Jer & Family
We prayed for you and your family and all your friends on Sunday at our church, OMC, and hope you all know how much we all care and want to help you in any ways we can. We think of you all every day, and know that you are going through a rough time. Many, many prayers, Guardian Angels and Earthly Angels, and God's love surround you all. Have faith in God's love...Take care of each other and God Bless and keep you all in the palm of his hand!
Hi Jer and family!
Love you all and you are still in our thoughts always ;) Stay strong and we'll see you soon!
Love, Beck and Bobby
Tell Jer to stay positive and keep his spirits up. His strength and determination are an inspiration to all of us who are thinking about him and praying for him. Not many of us have faced what he is facing and he can thank us all by never giving up.
Don and Mary
We will keep Praying for your complete recovery. God Bless You, Jer !!
Hoffmans, Know that you are all loved and we pray for you every day more than you know......tell Jer to keep his chin up.....his positive attitude is what has brought him so far along with all of our prayers and that is what will keep him going......I know that is easy for us to say, keep positiive, as we are not the ones going through this...but he is one strong guy, and I know that he will bounce back and keep going.....we love you all......
Jer, Zach and family:
Just know that I am keeping a vigil and praying for all of you every day. You are all an inspiration to all of the world. Do not give up, keep fighting the good fight and remember there are Many of us able to help in any way you need us.
Love, Kathy
Lets just hope that Jer can end up somewhere that he likes, and that things keep improving.
As always, the family is in my thoughts, and don't be afraid to call if you need anything.

Hi there! It's Heather Frost.
I'm sorry to hear things may be slowing down, but they could always be worse and there are many blessings to think about when we think about the fact the Jeremy is still here and able to smile at all of us.
Yesterday, you mentioned that Jeremy had asked how you would re-pay everyone and the answer is that you already have.
Jeremy has helped me through things that a person as "serious" as me just couldn't handle by his or herself. He always found a way to be compassionate and make me smile (something many people found impossible, but Jeremy just had a knack for being able to do it).
Jeremy was always in the right place at the right time when I needed him. He is like the little brother that I never had; there to stick up for me, and to say "I told you so" when I need to hear it. He's amazing and so is his family.
More than a few times it was the Hoffmans taking on extra work and volunteering for the jobs that no one would step up to the plate and deal with. From 4-H to the Fire Dept, the family has lent a hand too many times to mention; to kids and adults. I seem to remember Ron and Jer taking the time to do a "minor" mechanic job for me once; one that turned out not to be so "minor."
There is no need to repay anyone. I think most of us are just trying to return favors from the past and I know I feel like I'll never do enough to make Jer and I even.
Thank you for everything that you've done for me and everyone else. I'm sure to be visiting again soon and if you need anything (even if it involves getting covered in manure) just ask.
We'll all keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
-Heather
