Saturday- 10/27

Today turned out to be a pretty relaxing day for Jer and Ron and Carm--we had some visitors, not a whole lot today, so we got time to chat and work on setting in his chair. There is still an issue with his blood pressure dropping when he gets into the chair, but we have some ideas to help that--tomorrow the nurses will try some new things to see if it helps. They will wrap his legs in ace bandages and wrap his abdomen too. They think this will help to keep the blood in the upper portion of his body and that should help keep the blood pressure up.
Jer was glad to see Becky Tong Murdock--she came up from Pittsburg to see Jer and her dad. We haven't seen her in a long time, so it was a pleasant surprise to see her in the hall! Ron and I can't say enough to those of you who are helping to keep the "home fires burning"--oops I probably shouldn't say that to the firefighters huh?? Lisa, Peggy, Aubrey, Zach, Karen, Chris and Val--you guys are awesome! The work you've done for us is enormous and we don't know how we can ever repay you!! On another note, I got to talk to Tammy Kellogg today, she is such a wealth of information about the rehab stuff! Tammy's son is the boy who dove into the pool and injured the spinal cord. Along with getting into the chair tomorrow, we will really hit the rehab information and try to make an intelligent decision about where to go. There are a number of options, but it will ultimately come down to Jer's choice.==oh wait, his choice is at Johnson's or the OH--but I don't think they have the appropriate type of rehab!! We do Love you Jer!

Leave it to Jer to be joking. He is such a rock. I was surprised to hear that you had talked to Mrs Kellogg. If anyone knows what you are going through she would. She should have some good advice. I think of you all the time, and pray all day. I love all of you.

I know that we just have to keep the faith and believe in our prayers and positive things will happen.....Please tell Jeremy that I am thinking of him.....he is never out of my mind, nor are you, Carm and Ron. I wish there was more that I could do to help. Just remember we love you all.....

Niki and Tim,
Hope things are going well with your new roomies. I hear that they are a wild bunch. Keep them in line. We are lucky to have a place for people to stay during this tough time!
Mom and Dad,
What is there to say that has not already been said? You guys are THE BEST!!!! Jer needs you right now and it is awesome that you are able to be with him during this tough time. But hey isnt that what families are for to pull together when one is in need. We will do our best to keep things moving here in Odessa as long as you do the same up there. There is nothing else to say other than we love you and Man is this family lucky to have Two wonderful people like you to show us the way!! We would be lost without you! Love You!!!
Jer,
Blah, Blah, Blah....You already know that we love you and think about you all the time and are hoping for the best for you Whatever that may be...we do not care we are here for you. Keep Mom and Dad as long as you need them, we will keep things afloat here and keep moving forward. It has definately been one crazy week but have you ever known the Hoffman's to do anything without doing it like crazy people? Just know that we love you and are thinking about you.
Zach,
(our brother), you are helping us out in so many ways, we love you and cant thank you enough for all the help here in Odessa. If we keep plugging along things will work out. If you ever need a shoulder to cry on or an ear to yell at you know where you can find one! The Bird asks daily when you are coming to see her...you know how she is, you are her buddy!!!
Well Love to all, it is time for bed, I will see you Syracuse people in the morning. Goodnight for now. Love ya.

We visited Jer Friday night and it was great to see him. We came away feeling like Jer is a lucky young man, even though he is going through this terrible ordeal. First he is alive and still "Jer" with his beautiful smile and wonderful sense of humor and strong, positive will. Most importantly he has the love and support of his tremendous family. Ron and Carm are truly amazing with their positive support of Jer. They know that they have a long haul to get Jeremy healed and they are ready to take on the challenge and do whatever they need to do for him. His sisters and their families have been there for him and will continue to be. We hope that other families can learn to be more like your family. The world would be a much better place if we had more "Hoffman Families." We haven't even mentioned the support Jer has from his extended family (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.), friends and the community. He has many, many friends because he is such a great friend and the community is there to support the family because of all you have done for us over the years and because Jeremy is Jeremy! We will keep you in our prayers and please call on us if there is anything we can do to help. Don and Mary
