BOO-Happy Halloween

Hi all: Today was a wonderful day for all of us! Ron and I came home last night-it's the end of the month, and there are reports that have to be done, so we spent the day catching up! Then the phone call came from Jer--"Do you want some good news?" he asks--well that was a dumb question! Certainly we want good news--I figured they had finally gotten to go ahead to move him to rehab--but not that--he actually MOVED his legs. He can move the right leg better than the left, but the muscles in the left are telling it to move. The therapists are very pleased with his progress so far--especially considering that he gets only 20 minutes of rehab a day right now. We are still waiting for word from the Bronx, but he told me tonight that they expect to hear tomorrow from them. Lets hope so. It would be nice to get him into rehab so that he can be home for Christmas and maybe even Thanksgiving--of course he'd like to be able to go hunting--even if it's in a wheelchair for this year.
Will update more tomorrow night after I get to see him again. Love to you all.
Carm

WOW!!!! What great news!!! As I said so many times before, God can't ignore so many people who are praying for such a great person (that's you, Jer!!).....I know that every time I pray, I get the greatest sense of peace and just know that God is trying to tell me that our prayers will be answered......and now he is helping Jer to prove that.....Jer you are such a strong, determined young man. I am so proud of you for being someone we all can look up to and who helps all of US be strong.......Keep up the good work!! Love ya!!!!

OK I just typed up this great post and it got deleted... so here goes again!! I was there this am and the first thing that Jer said to me was "look at what I can do" and he did indeed move his right leg!! Life is good! Jer showed everyone that would look at him and that was awesome!! Jeremy was also able to put up some resistance to the range of motion that he and I have been doing. These are good things and couldn't be making me any happier. The left leg is a little different, the muscle are moving, but aren't quite yet ready to really move the leg much. there are slight movements with "zero- gravity", but time will tell. Jeremy is working VERY hard, and his spirits are high!
I don't care if you believe in the power of prayer, tremendous willpower, or just plain miracles...KEEP BELIEVING!!! and most of THANKS! You are all great!! Love NIKI

I think the lord just wanted to knock you on your ass knowing all to well that you would get up again. Maybe this is the only way he could get you to actually rest and not work for once in your life! Great news, as you can tell, no one is really surprised, your the iron man! Sorry to hear about the hunting this year, you could be a real redneck and do four wheeler hunting like my family when they get lazy and don't want to drag their bums up a hill! Keep kickin butt with therapy!Love Erin

On behalf of my family, we are all praying for Jeremy and his entire family. The overwhelming support and the genuine acts of kindness you will continue to receive from the people in this community will be sure to give you the strength you need to survive this crisis. I have no doubt in my mind that Jeremy will make a full recovery as I have seen his strength and determination overpower any obstacle in his way when he is striving for a goal. Please don't forget to take care of each other as you support and encourage Jeremy through his recovery. As I know from first-hand experience, difficult times such as these takes an emotional toll on the entire family. Stay strong and keep the faith. Kate Anagnost and Family

Brother Jer,

You are the most amazing and determined person I know (of coarse you already knew that). It brings tears of joy to my ears to hear of the remarkable progress you continue to accomplish. The picture of the whole family is wonderful and that smile is there as usual. I dont need to tell any of the Hoffman family how much you are LOVED, you can see that by the outpouring support and prayers from the community and beyond. Zach that includes you also, as you are a part of the family. Keep your chin up and the jokes rolling. WE LOVE YOU ALL VERY MUCH!!

LOVE YA,
Daughter Dawn
