Happy New Year

Hi all: Just wanted to update you like I said I would. Therapy went well last week. I worked on standing (with the aid of parellel bars) and on strength building for my legs. They were going to start some electrical stimulus on the nerves/muscles, but decided that I'm not quite ready for that yet. On Christmas Day, I surprised my family (and myself) by standing up in front of the chair using just a sawhorse for support!! It was great being in the upright position, but sure did tire me out--the muscles have a long way to go before they are strong enough to bear weight without tiring.
During the week, I've gotten out and helped Dad some--I have a power chair that gets around the farm pretty good so that I'm not stuck in the house. (my regular wheelchair doesn't do well in mud and snow). I also went bowling with the family--that was an experience. I only bowled a few frames--sure is different from a chair.
This week brings more therapy. I'm hopeful that the doctors will clear me to go to work shortly--NO, I won't be driving the bus, but I will be working at the school in some capacity.
I am looking forward to the improvements I will make this coming year, and want to wish everyone a Wonderful New Year and thank you for your support. Jer

Brother Jer....You look great in that picture standing up (although you look great in any picture). I am glad to here you have the power chair to get around in outside, it will come in handy when there is snow on the ground and someone parks a fire vehicle in front of the only sidewalk that you are able to access (we won't mention any names, ha ha.) Keep up the great progress and have a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!

Love Ya,
Dawn

Happy New Year Jeremy. It sounds like you are being careful to not overdo it. This is good. It also sounds like you are trying hard to make things happen along with your support group. You are blessed to have a great family and great friends.

Once I get over being sick with a bad cold, I will call you for a visit. I can't wait to give you a hug and tell you how proud I am of your accomplishments. Love,Great Aunt Mary Doyle

PS: I am watching the Hawaii vs Georgia football game. I am on the couch, covered with my favorite blanket, and pretending to be sicker than I am so my husband will wait on me. He is so good at this and I am enjoying shouting the orders. Unfortunately this won't last for long.
